Gillian Lipton, FIEMA
Senior Advisor ESG and Member of the Advisory Board
Treasure Earth is pleased to announce the appointment of Gillian Lipton FIEMA as Senior Advisor ESG and Member of the Advisory Board effective 22 April 2022. Gillian brings an impressive 20 years’ experience from both the private and not for profit sectors as a strategic, entrepreneurial and passionate corporate sustainability and ESG professional. She counts ESG, ethical trading, supply chain, consumer goods, circularity, social impact and community programmes among her many specialisations, excelling in particular at strategy, communications and leadership to inspire, guide and support. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment and holds ISO14001 Lead Auditor certification.
Gillian currently runs her own freelance consultancy ‘With Heart Consulting’ where she supports companies on their journey to making a meaningful and impactful environmental and social difference. Previously as Head of Social and Environmental Sustainability at Arcadia Group she was responsible for creating, leading and executing the CSR strategy across all Arcadia’s brands and which included collaborations with many organisations such as ACT and the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Sustainable Fashion to name just a few. In addition to introducing more sustainable materials into the brand’s collections, she also helped to launch the first vegan footwear collection sold by a high street retailer.
Prior to her role at Arcadia she was a Board Director at ACT Stichtung (Foundation). ACT (Action, Collaboration, Transformation) is a ground-breaking agreement between global brands, retailers and trade unions to achieve a living wage for the global garment, textile and footwear industry through collective bargaining. ACT is the first global commitment to living wages in the sector providing a mechanism through which governments, brands, retailers, trade unions, manufacturers and all relevant actors can exercise their responsibility collectively.
Gillian spent 11 years at Monsoon Accessorise combining her role as a Trustee of the Monsoon Accessorise Trust with Head of Charity and then Head of Corporate Responsibility. During her tenure she organised and chaired the CR Committee, Modern Slavery Committee and Charity Trustee meetings managing fundraising, finances, projects, budgets, communication, and administration for the Monsoon Accessorize Trust; she cultivated enterprising relationships and collaborated with external stakeholders (ETI, DEFRA, DFID, Non-Governmental Organisations, London College of Fashion etc.).
Of course there is call for radical change across the whole fashion industry but no-one is better placed to advise on change than someone who has been involved with the industry and therefore understands the industry as critical friend.
Gillian is also a Trustee and core member of Sustainable Three Rivers – an environmental community initiative for residents in the area in which she lives.
