Gary Norman
Head of Broadcast Media, Senior Producer & Creative Director & Member of the Advisory Board
Treasure Earth is pleased to announce the appointment of Gary Norman as Head of Broadcast Media, Senior Producer, Creative Director and Member of the Advisory Board, Treasure Earth Prize and Awards effective 14 February 2021. Sport has historically, and continues today to champion some of the world’s major causes with significant results. For the sports enthusiasts among you, you will recognise Gary from when he was Senior Producer and Sports Presenter at BSKYB. A seasoned professional, he brings a wealth of experience as a highly skilled, experienced and popular broadcast media professional, who has hosted and produced some of the top sporting events around the world, for leading broadcast media companies such as the BBC, BSB, BSKYB, SkySports and IMG. He is Co-Founder of Defined Media, a media training company providing bespoke courses, which he co-founded with his good friend and TV colleague, Andy Finn and the distinguished former Sky News presenter, Jeremy Thompson, whose credentials include 3 BAFTA’s, reporting on no less than 6 x US Presidential campaigns and interviewing World Statesmen, such as Nelson Mandela.
Gary has had something of a distinguished broadcast career himself, working in TV as a Senior Producer, Reporter and Presenter, the latter primarily on Boxing, where he covered British, European and World Title fights, globally, often working for American networks HBO and Showtime. He has also made documentaries and was instrumental in launching the Sports Channel for BSB and SkySports for BSKYB.
Among his many achievements, he set up the Premier League short form content department, worked on the US PGA and European golf tours, working on events such as the US Open and Ryder Cup; he has produced both the EuroCup and EuroLeague basketball; the Olympics and Commonwealth Games; Wimbledon tennis; the Grand Prix and Elite League Speedway; World Matchplay and World Championship Darts; 9-Ball World Pool Championships; the Grand National; Fish O’Mania; World Championship Athletics and many other prominent sporting events.
It seems Gary was always destined for a career in sports, when, whilst at Dulwich College, he played 2nd XI Cricket and 3rd XV Rugby and was Cross Country and Athletics Captain, representing Dulwich at the London Schools and Southern County Athletics Championships, where he broke all records for javelin throwing.
Gary is no stranger to challenges and if you thought he might be taking some well-deserved time out during lockdown, think again, he has recently taken on some exciting challenges, working on an esports project for FIFA and raising sponsorship and for two round-the-World Yacht Races, and, we are delighted to announce, working on our very own Treasure Earth challenge, the Treasure Earth Prize and Awards.
Welcome
The valued skills that Gary brings to Treasure Earth complement the existing team perfectly and will contribute significantly to the success of Treasure Earth C.I.C., the Prize Campaigns and Awards and to the Treasure Earth challenge addressing major global challenges of the 21st century in areas of Peace, Climate, CSR and Humanitarian Care and with a central theme on youth.
