Senior Board Consultant, Strategic and Operational Finance
I am pleased to announce the appointment of Philip Daniel Young as Senior Board Consultant – Strategic and Operational Finance effective 26 February 2019.
Philip is a Senior Regulatory Finance Manager at Vodafone and is responsible for providing expert strategic and regulatory advice and management of the economic regulatory financial issues that drive Vodafone’s mainstream business.
He moved to Vodafone from a similar role as Regulatory and Strategy Manager at Three Mobile UK where he was responsible for Three’s financial data for regulatory and economic purposes driving the commercial and regulatory strategy.
Prior to that he spent 9 years at the telecoms regulator OFCOM as a Senior Associate focusing on competition finance and regulatory economics. Here he was responsible for providing expert advice on the telecoms and communications businesses that Ofcom regulates and driving the competition rulings, policy, and operational decisions that Ofcom delivers. He successfully influenced Policy Members and the Ofcom Board on their strategy for regulatory measures resulting in major technological changes in a specific communications sector.
He also held a number of mainstream Finance roles in large commercial organisations including as Northern European Financial Controller for General Electric’s Healthcare division, as Finance Manager at British Airways engineering workshops and as the Finance Account Manager for Computer Sciences Corporation IT division.
Philip started his training career at British Airways PLC in their engineering division, he worked in various areas across their business and ended his training in their finance division as Financial Analyst. Soon promoted to Finance Manager within B.A. Engineering he provided financial management to an engineering support unit. Managing the P&L and all financial control and financial reporting he transformed the business control system from a cost centre controlled business into a profit centre.
Philip holds an accountancy qualification from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and a Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) and a BSC Engineering Management, both from Brunel University.
Philip is also on the board of a residential management company and an accountancy practice that supports both commercial and charitable organisations.
The valued skill-set that Philip brings to Treasure Earth complements the existing team perfectly and will contribute greatly to the success of the Paradigm Prizes, the strategic and financial direction and the vision of the Treasure Earth challenge addressing major global challenges of the 21st century in areas of peace, climate, CSR and humanitarian care.
